Award Acquisition Expansion

The nomination period for Technology Publishing Co.’s eighth annual Elevation Awards, carried out in partnership with the Commercial Painting Industry Association, is officially open.

This annual honors program recognizes projects ranging from residential exteriors and commercial renovations to floor coatings and wall coverings throughout the commercial coatings industry.

Last year’s winning projects, recapped in the Fall 2023 issue of Commercial Painting, included historic building renovations using cutting-edge materials, new construction of a much-needed community center, creative flooring installation at a century-old church and several other technically and aesthetically outstanding projects.

Facility owners, architects, interior designers, painting contractors, decorative artisans, manufacturers and suppliers are all invited to submit information about their projects for consideration.

The 2024 Elevation Awards will be presented during an awards ceremony at the CPIA Leadership Conference, scheduled Oct. 20-23 at the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas. In order to be eligible for consideration, a representative from the contractor, materials supplier and/or facility owner must be present at the ceremony to accept the award.

The winning projects will also be featured in an article in the Winter 2024 issue of Commercial Painting and profiled individually on PaintSquare Daily News.

New Construction

As in past years, our panel of industry expert judges will assess each project against a set of category-specific criteria and choose the award winners accordingly.

New Construction

This award is given for the effective use of coatings and other decorative treatments to achieve interior and/or exterior aesthetic effects on a new construction project—such as those used for retail, hospitality, lodging or entertainment—or a public building, such as a legislative chamber, a school or a railway station.

Mixed-Use Commercial

This award is given for the effective use of coatings and other substrate treatments to enhance the interior and/or exterior of a mixed-use commercial building. Examples include buildings where spaces are shared for retail, hospitality, restaurants, entertainment and transportation.

Multi-Family/Residential High-Rise

This award is given for the effective use of coatings and other decorative treatments to achieve interior and/or exterior aesthetic effects on a high-end residential structure. Examples include multifamily and high-rise residential.

Institutional (Healthcare, Education, etc.)

This award is given for the effective use of coatings and other substrate treatments to enhance the interior and/or exterior of an institutional structure. Examples include hospitals, healthcare facilities, educational facilities, schools and childcare facilities.

Floor Coatings

This award is given for outstanding achievement in selection and installation of a floor coating or treatment that excels in aesthetic effects, durability and maintainability. (Applications must make a persuasive case for how a project achieves durability/maintainability.)

Ancillary/Misc. Services (Roof Coatings, Wallcovering, Fabric Panels, etc.)

This award will be given to a successful ancillary service project that achieved demonstrable energy savings and desirable aesthetic on, or within, a building. Project examples vary from roof coatings to air barriers and moisture management, to wallcovering and fabric panel installations.

Judges' Choice Award

Drawing from individual category winners, judges will select an overall winner to receive the Judges' Choice Award, which recognizes an outstanding architecture project that best exemplifies the seamless combination of compelling aesthetics and high performance in use of coatings and other substrate treatments.

Submitting a Nomination

In order to be eligible for consideration, all nominated projects must be completed between Jan. 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024. The deadline to submit nomination(s) is May 31.

To submit a successful nomination, TPC and the CPIA suggest the following:

Fill out all contact information fields.
Select the appropriate Project Category based on project type and its respective description.
Name your project and include its location.
Name the project’s Client/Owner and Coatings Contractor for proper recognition, as well as any material suppliers, inspectors, consultants or other parties who contributed to the success of the project.
Don’t forget to include your project’s start and end dates, as they are crucial to the eligibility of your nomination.
When filling out the “About the Project” section, be as descriptive as possible. Our judges would like to know the project’s challenges and why decision makers made the choices they did. This section should run anywhere between 10 to 15 sentences but can run longer as needed.
Being specific is key in the “Products Used for Project” section. List all the products and quantities used on the project. This section can cover everything from surface preparation materials to primers, intermediate and top coats to wallcoverings and glazes. A short sentence explaining why each product was chosen should also be included.
Photos can be the most crucial part of submitting a successful project nomination. For this reason, be sure to include between five and 10 high-resolution photos.

TPC keeps track of the pages our customers visit within its websites to determine what TPC sites and services are the most popular. You may choose to not have the tracking include your user identification.

Web pages at other TPC websites may also contain web beacons placed there by third parties to compile aggregated statistics and to help determine the effectiveness of our joint promotional or advertising campaigns. Use of Third Party Ad Networks

The majority of the online banner advertisements you see on paintsquare.com web pages are displayed by TPC.

In addition, TPC may allow other companies, called third-party ad servers or ad networks, to display advertisements on TPC web pages. Goal:

The goal of this policy is to ensure a forum for information, dialogue and fair opinion on relevant issues. The comment function may not be used to promote products, equipment or services or for personal attacks. Posts that violate this policy will be removed.

Specifics:

Ad hominem and personal attacks are not permitted. Criticize the ideas, not the people.
No trolling. Don't make posts that are simply inflammatory, off topic or perpetuating your personal soapbox. Substance is a key to not being labeled a troll, but substance alone will not prevent you from being considered a troll.
Inform, don't sell. Companies are welcome to answer specific questions about their products posted by other readers. However, this should not be a vehicle for promotionâ€”just for information. Because contact information is included in all product stories, there is no need to include contact information in such posts.
Stay on topic. Respond to the letter, article, blog, etc.
No pornographic, sexually offensive, sexually explicit, objectifying material, inflammatory or vulgar language. The editors' judgment will apply here.
Respect privacy. Do not post any private phone numbers, addresses, pictures or other personal information—your own or anyone else's.
Be yourself. Do not attempt to impersonate another user or person, or use multiple identities in an attempt to dodge our comment policy.
No spamming. No commercial-oriented posts and no flooding with useless content—or content designed to encourage trolling other sites or to lead viewers to sites that violate these policies.
Please respect and abide by the decisions of the moderators. If you have issues with moderation, we want to hear about them, but the thread where the moderation took place isn't the place. We may briefly answer questions in a thread, but prefer that you contact us. Your concerns will be addressed as soon as possible.

Consequences for not adhering to policies include the following, not necessarily in this order:
