New Product Announcement: Copper Coating

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2022

Last month, Behr Paint Company issued an email sharing information about one of its latest product offerings: Copper Force Paint.

The interior coating incorporates Corning Guardiant antimicrobial copper ion technology and is registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. According to Behr, the coating can kill 99.9% of viruses and bacteria within two hours of contact on painted surfaces.

In an EPA test protocol, the coating was verified to last up to six years if the integrity of the painted surface is maintained and is one part of a comprehensive infection control and hygiene program.

The company has gone on to note that the copper-infused coating provides a mildew-resistant finish, is MPI-approved, and is zero VOC (< 5 grams/Liter, excluding colorants).

Behr Copper Force interior paint is currently available in two sheens: interior eggshell enamel and interior semi-gloss enamel. A palette for the coating includes more than 2,000 color options, as well as custom color matching.
