MegaRust Begins in San Diego

TUESDAY, MAY 22, 2018

MegaRust 2018, the American Society of Naval Engineers’ annual Naval corrosion conference, kicks off Tuesday at the Marriott Mission Valley in San Diego, California.

MegaRust provides a consolidated, impartial forum for discussion of the U.S. Navy’s corrosion issues between government and industry organizations; providers of coatings and corrosion control products; and other individuals involved in the research and development, design, engineering, construction, maintenance, modernization and operation of Naval systems that are potentially affected by corrosion.

Mega Rust, the annual Naval corrosion conference presented by USNE, will focus on affordability, mission readiness and force extension this year.

This year’s conference theme, “Corrosion Control: Enabling Affordability, Mission Readiness and Force Extension,” influences the technical program, which comprises updated information on programs, policies, standards, technologies and strategies for controlling corrosion.

John Mangano, the MegaRust 2018 symposium chairman, will deliver the conference’s opening remarks at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, followed by concurrent technical sessions. The exhibit hall opens at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Other conference proceedings include panel meetings, exhibitor demonstrations and Corrosion Control Jeopardy! at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The conference will close Thursday with a keynote speech from Kevin Graney, president of General Dynamics, NASSCO, as well as the presentation of the ASNE Claud A. Jones Award to the fleet engineer of the year.

The following MegaRust technical presentations may be of interest to protective coatings professionals. For a complete list of events, visit the official conference website.
