LP Spray Foam Touts HP Performance

Dow Building Solutions has unveiled a low-pressure (LP) spray foam system designed to provide the same performance as high-pressure (HP) drum foam insulation, but without the need for large rigs.

Froth-Pak Ultra Premium Foam Insulation bills itself as the only low-pressure foam that can be left exposed up to eight inches thick in rim joists and 10 inches thick in uninhabitable attics and ventilated crawl spaces.

The system allows for one-hour re-entry by trades and occupants.

Dow also says the product complies more easily with OSHA requirements than high-pressure foam, requires less setup than high-pressure systems, and reduces the cost of equipment maintenance.

The manufacturer says the system is less expensive over the long term than drum and rig systems. (Dow offers an online calculator that enables contractors to assess the use of Froth-Pak Ultra on a job.)

Joe Barrow, of Dow Building Solutions, says Froth-Pak Ultra can help contractors grow their business.

"Contractors already using low-pressure foams can now do jobs they couldn't do before. And for contractors looking to enter the market, this system is less expensive, with no need to purchase a large spray rig."
