JPCL Releases Latest Issue Highlights

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2023

The latest issue of the Journal of Protective Coatings & Linings is available in print and online at paintsquare.com. This issue contains feature articles on avoiding hazards while working at heights, coatings for wind turbines at sea and the 40-year anniversary for the WaterJet Technology Association.

Recent JPCL Highlights

In addition to the preview of TPC Connect, last month’s JPCL issue announces that the deadline for submitting nominations for this year’s Prestige Awards has been extended to Friday, Dec. 1.

Nominations opened in August for the awards program, with this year’s awards featuring specific products involved in notable coating projects across an array of industry sectors, including bridge and highway, water and wastewater, marine, energy production and more.

Additionally, each Top Project category will include Project MVP awards, which will recognize the team leaders who helped carry these projects through to successful completion.

Following the announcement, the editors pulled together some of the recent, most-read stories on paintsquare.com for the Coverage section of this latest issue. Some of these topics include bridge funding and upcoming projects.

The next installment of the “Coatings 101” series also covers the principles of working at heights, explaining how protection against falling from heights actually starts on the ground level, offering guidance on performing workplace risk assessments, ensuring that workers are properly equipped and other considerations for keeping workers safe at heights.

In terms of this issue’s features, “Selecting Protective Coatings for Wind Turbines at Sea” by James Lawson of Carboline Company outlines some of the main factors to consider when selecting coating systems to protect offshore wind turbine foundations, reviewing the key differences between the traditional coatings used and exploring another coating option that has the potential to outperform them all.

Finally, this year, the WaterJet Technology Association is celebrating its 40th anniversary as an advocacy group for best practices and evolving technology in the waterjetting industry. In “4 Decades of Progress in Waterjetting,” Peter Wright reviews some of WJTA’s historical highlights, including its initial founding, the development of educational and training materials, the evolution of its annual conference and exhibition, and more.

Readers can also find the recurring Bid Bits and Paint by Numbers.
