Abrasive media manufacturer Transmet Corporation (Columbus, Ohio) recently added stainless steel grit to its abrasive offerings. According to Transmet, the stainless steel grit is durable and resistant to breakdown, leading to increased visibility for the operator during blasting.

The media can be used for coating removal, surface preparation and surface profile creation prior to painting, cleaning of welded joints and other similar jobs. According to the company, the media is characterized by angular shape, high hardness and high bulk density, creating a consistent, bright surface profile without ferrous contamination.

Transmet stainless steel grit comes in 55-pound bags, and is available in three sizes: 0.125-0.425 millimeter, 0.180-0.710 millimeter and 0.300-1 millimeter.
