Contractors Needed for WA Bridge Seismic Retrofit

Skagit County is seeking contractors to perform seismic retrofitting of the Upper Finney Creek Bridge in Mount Vernon, Washington.

Bids are due May 16 at 2:30 p.m., local time.  

The engineer estimates that the project will cost bewteen $1,825,000 and $2,143,000.

Scope of Work

This contract will provide improvements to the Upper Finney Creek Bridge (Bridge Number 40093) to seismically retrofit the structure by utilizing drilled shafts, cast-in-place shaft cap beams and girder bolsters. Work will include modified concrete deck overlay, structural earth walls and rock dowels. The time limit for physical completion of all work is a total of 140 working days.

Just Like New Overspray Management

Existing surfaces will require 330 square yards of scarifying concrete surfaces. An additional 300 square feet of further deck preparation for Type 1 deck repair and 150 square feet of further preparation for Type 2 deck repair is required. The contractor may use either a hydro-demolition machine or shot blast-cleaning for scarifying concrete surfaces. A rotary milling machine will not be permitted.

The contractor will oversee 400 cubic feet of modified concrete overlay application and 390 square yards of finishing and curing modified concrete overlay. The contractor will use either fly ash modified concrete, latex modified concrete or microsilica modified concrete for concrete overlay. The owner-approved manufacturer for modified concrete latex overlay is Trinseo. The owner-approved manufacturer for high molecular weight methacrylate modified concrete overlay is Transpo Industries, Inc.
