CONSTRUCT to Showcase Exhibitors, Tours

While the Construction Specifications Institute has yet to finalize the 2019 CONSTRUCT conference schedule—slated to take place Oct. 9-11 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland—new information, social events and traditional schedule hours have been revealed, showing slight changes compared to last year’s event.

The 2019 CONSTRUCT conference is slated to take place Oct. 9-11 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.

The updated schedule includes minor tweaks to the Educational Programs and Expo Hours so that these events do not overlap.

Registration

Beginning with registration, conference attendees can begin arriving on Tuesday, Oct. 8, with early registration taking place from 3-5 p.m. During the duration of CONSTRUCT 2019, registration will be open every day at 7 a.m.

Educational Programs

The educational programs are slated to begin at 8 a.m. on Oct. 9 and continue throughout the day to 5 p.m. However, on Oct. 10, the programs will take place at 7:45-9 a.m. and 3:15-4:45 p.m. On the last day of the conference, Oct. 11, the educational programs will take place at 7:45-9 a.m. and 2:45-4:15 p.m.

Exhibit Hall

This year, the exhibit hall will officially open at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, and will be open to attendees until 3 p.m. On Friday, the exhibit hall will only be open 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., however.

For those hosting a booth in the exhibit hall, move-in is slated to take place 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, as well as 7 a.m.- 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10. Move-out times will take place 7 a.m.- 4 p.m. on  Friday, Oct. 11.

Social Events & Networking Lounges

Thus far, two new networking opportunities and two social events have been announced. Those events include:

  • “Education Networking Lounge,” which will provide a space where peers, educational speakers and colleagues can meet up to continue conversation from the scheduled sessions. The lounge will be open from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Oct. 9; 7:45-9 a.m. and 3:15-4:45 p.m., Oct. 10; 7:45-9 a.m. and 2:45-4:15 p.m., Oct. 11
  • “Coffee Talk Lounge,” which will be a collaborative space where CONSTRUCT speakers will host mini educational chat sessions, and peers can tackle and solve problems within a open environment. Scheduled times for this lounge are 9 a.m.-3 p.m, on Oct. 10, and 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Oct. 11.
  • “CONSTRUCT Welcome Reception” will be hosted in the Gaylord National Resort, Maryland Ballroom at 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Oct. 9.
  • “CSI Night Out” will be hosted at the Granite City Food & Brewery at 7-10 p.m. on on Oct. 11.

Additional educational opportunities include “Learning Lounges” which are one-hour educational sessions led by various exhibitors, an on-site “Demo & Learning Theatre” and “Workshop Studio.”

Students in the field are also encouraged to participate in CONSTRUCT’s continuing education program, which offers up to 17 credits through various educational sessions, exhibits and tours.

Educational Advisory Council

In addition to the conference’s still-developing schedule, members have been listed for the 2019 Education Advisory Council. While applicants can still apply for consideration, individuals listed include:

Other Programs

In addition to the hundreds of exhibitors, CONSTRUCT will also offer a specific track for young emerging professionals (those who are 35 and younger), with a time still being determined.
