Author Guidelines

Welcome to the Author Guidelines for the Journal of Protective Coatings & Linings (JPCL). Please follow these instructions carefully to ensure a smooth submission and review process.

Before submitting your manuscript, ensure the following:

  • Your manuscript fits the Aim & Scope of JPCL.

  • All co-authors have approved the content.

  • The manuscript is formatted in Microsoft Word or LaTeX, including all required sections.

  • You have addressed all relevant ethical issues, copyright, authorship, figure formats, data, and references.

  • You have read the Ethical Guidelines and these Author Guidelines.

Manuscript Submission

  • Manuscripts must be submitted as an email attachment to the handling editor.

  • The submitting author is responsible for all correspondence and for ensuring that all authors qualify for authorship and agree to the submission.

Types of Publications

JPCL accepts the following types of submissions:

  • Original Research Articles: Full reports of new findings with complete experimental details.

  • Review Articles: Critical, comprehensive reviews summarizing progress and current understanding.

  • Short Communications, Case Studies, and Technical Notes: As approved by the editorial office.

All submissions must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. See our Aim & Scope for more details.

Manuscript Preparation

General Requirements:

  • Free Format Submission: Initial submissions may be in any consistent style but must include all standard sections (Title, Author Information, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Figures/Tables, Funding, Author Contributions, Conflicts of Interest, Ethics Statements, References).

  • References: Any style is accepted on initial submission, but references must be consistent and complete. APA style is preferred.

Structure:

  1. Title Page: Title, authors’ names, affiliations, and contact email for the corresponding author.

  2. Abstract: Maximum 200 words, single paragraph summarizing context, methods, main results, and conclusions.

  3. Keywords: 3–10 keywords.

  4. Main Text:

    • Introduction

    • Materials and Methods

    • Results

    • Discussion

    • Conclusions (optional)

    • Patents (if applicable)

  5. Back Matter:

    • Author Contributions

    • Funding Statement

    • Institutional Review Board and Informed Consent Statements (for human/animal research)

    • Data Availability Statement

    • Acknowledgments

    • Conflicts of Interest

    • References (numbered in order of appearance; APA preferred)

Figures, Schemes, and Tables:

  • Should be high quality (≥600 dpi), in PNG, JPEG, or TIFF format.

  • Place close to first citation in text; number sequentially.

  • Each must have a concise caption.

  • Tables should be created using Word’s “Table” function.

 

Author Information

  • Authors must list current institutional affiliations and the primary institution supporting the research.

  • Independent researchers should use that designation if not affiliated with an institution.

  • Authorship must reflect only those who have made substantial contributions (see Ethical Guidelines).

Research Data and Supplementary Material

  • Authors are encouraged to deposit data in public repositories and provide data availability statements.

  • Supplementary files can be submitted in any standard format.

Ethics and Integrity

JPCL upholds strict ethical standards for publication, including plagiarism checks, data integrity, and authorship. For detailed requirements, consult our Ethical Guidelines.

Dual Use, Sensitive Content, and Compliance

  • Declare any research with potential dual use (military, hazardous materials, etc.) at submission.

  • Adhere to all international and local guidelines for research ethics.

Plagiarism, Image Manipulation, and Copyright

  • All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and improper image manipulation.

  • Reuse of published materials requires explicit permission and clear credit in captions.

Reference and Citation Policy

  • Reference all sources accurately.

  • Avoid excessive self-citation or citation manipulation.

  • References in supplementary materials should also appear in the main reference list.

Final Notes

  • Only manuscripts that comply with these guidelines will be considered for review.
