Overall, where would you rather work/manage others: a union company or an open shop?

In this present day unions are not for the company they are for the employees. They appear to bite the hand that feeds them. In my 51 years of life I have observed many shades of grey except for politics and unions. What's wrong with protecting the environment and using common sense? What's wrong with working a little overtime and getting straight time pay?

The painter union recognizes that it must evolve and has been taking the steps to get there for about a decade. However unions, just like government, are massive beuacracies and changing the culture, the way business is done, takes time. Personally I like where the union is heading, just not sure I have time left in my carear to see the effert deliver the desired the result.

I worked union (painters) for 25 years out of Southern California so I have a little knowlegde of what I say. From my experience the unions could careless about the rank & file. The only care the unions have is money and power. I personally have no use for. them.
