Positioning itself for aggressive growth in the U.S. powder-coating market, Architectural Finish Systems Inc., of Clearwater, FL, is sporting a new owner, new expansion funds, and new management. The company has been acquired by United Capital Funding Corp. which has also provided additional investment to expand Architectural Finish’s powder coating capacity. Finally, the powder coater has a new general manager.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. United Capital is based in St. Petersburg, FL.
Founded in 1997, Architectural Finish Systems offers powder coating, media blasting, paint stripping, custom hanging, masking solutions, pretreatment, and cleaning. The company operates one of the largest batch ovens in the U.S. and has the capacity to coat parts and medium up to 64 feet in length.
New Ownership, Expansion
The new deals expand the existing relationship between the companies. United Capital Funding, a provider of working capital and credit management services, has provided funding to Architectural Finish Systems for four years.
“We are very excited about the new ownership and the significant investments they have already made to help us expand,” said Jamie Hickey, general manager of Architectural Finish Systems Inc. “They [United] are committed to the long-term goal of ensuring that we remain the one of the leading powder coating operations in the Southeastern United States.”
Hickey was named general manager of the company on Sept 1, bringing more than 35 years of manufacturing experience.
Additional Investment
The additional investment includes expansion of the facility in Clearwater and the purchase of additional tools to assist in future expansion.
“We have known and provided funding to Architectural Finish Systems Inc. since 2009 and are looking forward to our involvement to expand Architectural Finish Systems Inc. in the future,” said Chris Youmans, president of United Capital Funding.
