Coating test gauge maker ElektroPhysik Inc. has introduced the MiniTest 70 series of coating thickness gauges, a line of compact instruments designed for quick and easy nondestructive measurement.

Pocket-sized MiniTest 70 series coating thickness gauge

Two models are available: the MiniTest 70 F, with built-in sensor, for measuring non-magnetic coatings applied on steel; and the MiniTest 70 FN, with a built-in dual sensor for measuring non-magnetic coatings on steel and insulating coatings on aluminum, copper, brass and other non-ferrous metals.

Features and Design

The pocket-sized MiniTest 70 Series features a simple four-button operation; clear display; and built-in statistics displaying the number of readings taken, the minimum, maximum, mean values and standard deviation. No special training is required; an audible signal confirms reading acquisition.

The unit is powered by one AA battery; a symbol indicates when the battery is low and needs to be changed.

The MiniTest 70 FN model incorporates a dual sensor for automatic identification of the substrate material. Upon contact with the surface, the gauge automatically switches to the suitable measuring principle based on the application: magnetic-induction or eddy currents.

Based in Cologne, Germany, ElektroPhysik has manufactured measuring gauges for surface technology for more than 60 years.
