The apprentice assessor will be responsible for conducting corrosion assessments for exterior and interior structural systems as directed by a senior assessor, including shipboard coating systems, cathodic protection systems, compartment structure, support structure, tanks, magazines, sponsons, bulkheads, catwalks, superstructure, deckhouse, island and foundations.
The apprentice assessor will be responsible for documenting conditions on the forms and in the systems defined by the customer.
The position will include classroom and on-the-job training.
Applicant Requirements
Candidates must be knowledgeable in shipyard structural repairs and marine coating systems. They must be able to physically access ships in dry docks, tanks and voids, various compartments and throughout the external hull and superstructure.
Navy Corrosion Control PMS experience is preferred, as is at least two years’ experience with waterfront marine coating application and/or marine structural repair.
