Longtime independent testing provider CAS-MI Laboratories has taken on the name of its new parent company.
Effective Tuesday (Nov. 15), the Ypsilanti, MI-based company has become EAG Coatings Solutions.
The rebranding follows the April 2011 sale of CAS-MI and affiliates Cyanta Analytical Services and Chemir Analytical Services to Evans Analytical Group (EAG), based in Santa Clara, CA. The deal made CAS-MI one of EAG’s 20 laboratories worldwide.

| EAG Coating Solutions says its rebranding reflects its “strong commitment to coatings product development and analytical problem solving.” |
EAG said the acquisitions would expand its investigational, regulatory and product development capabilities across a variety of industries, including coatings.
Chemir and CAS-MI continued to operate under their same names, and Cyanta began the process to be renamed EAG Life Sciences.
CAS-MI’s rebranding reflects both its sale and “the strong commitment to coatings product development and analytical problem solving,” the company said in a statement.
As EAG Coatings Solutions, the independent analytical laboratory (now at both www.eaglabs.com and www.cas-mi.com) will continue to provide an array of problem-solving and product development services, including deformulation (reverse engineering), contaminant identification, failure analysis, and chemical analysis.
Deep Roots
Established in 1943, the Detroit-area facility supplies analytical and development services to large and small entrepreneurial companies in a wide variety of industries, including paints, coatings, polymers, plastics, coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers. The company became CAS-MI Laboratories in 2004 and launched the CAS-MI Innovation Center in 2009 after moving to a new 11,000-square-foot facility.

“EAG Coatings Solutions has successfully assisted entrepreneurs and international companies in product development for innovative paint and coating technologies for many years,” said Stephen C. Hall, Vice President and General Manager. “Our new name emphasizes both our development capabilities and our analytical support services.”
Harry Davoody, CEO of EAG, said he welcomed the new identity “into EAG’s expanding network of highly specialized and unique laboratories.”
