The ins and outs of selecting the correct coatings systems for wastewater plants will be the topic of a free upcoming webinar presented by JPCL and SSPC.
Lake H. Barrett and Gary R. Hall of Sauereisen will present “Selecting Coatings for Wastewater Facilities” from 11 a.m. to noon EDT Oct. 12.
Barrett and Hall will describe the coatings systems that are typically recommended for the main exposure conditions in wastewater service, and will explain the pros and cons for each system.
Pittsburgh-based Sauereisen manufactures specialty cements and corrosion-resistant materials for construction.

Free Coatings Webcasts Available
Numerous free webcasts are now available at www.paintsquare.com/webinars. Among the recent presentations:
“Creating a Contractor Safety Program that Works,” presented Sept. 14, provides guidance for industrial painting contractors who have to develop a company safety program. The webinar discusses good safety practices and regulatory requirements, including the current OSHA guidelines for a company safety program.

The presenter was Bob Ikenberry, corporate safety director and project manager for California Engineering Contractors, and an SSPC-certified Protective Coating Specialist.
“One-Coat Systems in Public Works Projects,” presented Aug. 10, describes the design and data derived from two FHWA research projects on coating performance, focusing on promising one-coat systems and systems with potential for long-term service. The presenter was Eric S. Kline, of KTA-Tator Inc.

“Protecting Steel Edges,” presented June 8, describes specific methods of obtaining sufficient coating thickness on steel edges and other irregular steel surfaces, where coatings tend to pull away during curing. The presenter was Bob Kogler, of Rampart LLC, former head of corrosion protection and coatings research at the Federal Highway Administration.

“Achieving Durability in Concrete Repairs,” presented May 11, provides an introductory-level overview on selecting and using repair materials for structural concrete in a way that assures the durability of the repair.
