Larson Electronics has expanded its Magnalight line of explosion-proof lights with a two-foot version of its UL 844 LED light for paint spray booths.
With bright light output, high color rendition and five-year bulb life, these explosion-proof 30-watt lights carry Class 1 and Class 2 Division 1 ratings.
The model has been available in a four-foot version; the new, smaller size comes in response to customer demand, said Rob Bresnahan, of Magnalight.

“We have had a lot of demand for a two-foot model, just due to customer space constraints,” he said. “We had to make smaller bulbs and a smaller fixture.”
Hazardous Location Use
The EPL-24-2L-LED explosion-proof LED light is designed for hazardous-location area use. The long-life fixture reduces electricity costs, is made in the U.S., and features both surface- and pendant-mounting options.
Wheeled-cart options of the four-foot fixture, including the EPLC-48-4L-LED and the EPLCD-48-2L-LED, can be moved in and around hazardous location areas to suit a particular coating application.
“These LED explosion-proof lights complement our existing line of explosion-proof fluorescent lights while offering lower cost of operation and less maintenance,” said Bresnahan.
The lights are UL certified for both flammable vapors and dusts, making them suitable for paint spray booths, manufacturing, refineries and tank storage, he said. “The main driver for choosing the Magnalight LED lights is maintenance cost. Customers are looking to avoid or minimize maintenance costs associated with fluorescent lighting.”
Kemp, TX-based Larson Electronics offers a wide array of explosion-proof lighting, including handheld, portable and surface mount models with UL Class 1 and Class 2 Division 1 ratings.
