After 61 years as a family company, global coatings consultant KTA-Tator Inc. (KTA) has been sold to employees.
KTA announced that it had officially became an employee-owned company Dec. 21 via an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
The company’s management team remains the same, as does its professional staff, which includes Professional Engineers, Certified Coatings Inspectors, Certified Protective Coatings Specialists, Certified Weld Inspectors, and Certified Industrial Hygienists/Certified Safety Professionals.
Ken Tator, former owner and CEO, remains with the company in an advisory role and as chairman of the board of directors, and will maintain a coatings-consulting practice. Tator’s father, Kenneth, founded the firm in the basement of his home in 1949.
Ken Trimber continues as president, and other senior executives are Dan Adley, chief operating officer/chief financial officer; Eric Kline, executive vice president; and John Konopka, vice president-finance.
KTA provides independent assessments of the quality and performance of protective coatings used in corrosive environments.
“Employee ownership ensures the proud tradition of KTA will continue into the future,” the company said in a statement. “We, the employee owners of KTA, are thrilled about this new milestone and look forward to serving our clients during this exciting time.”
