The Valspar Corp. introduced “Granite,” described as an innovative polyester coating for prepainted metal in applications that require a high degree of flexibility, resistance to scratching and staining, and adhesion in moist environments. The coatings are recommended for a range of coil-coating applications, including building panels, garage doors, and others. The coatings are offered in various colors, in low, medium, and high glosses.
The company says the coatings were developed in response to market demand for the development of a polyester coating flexible enough for use with rigorous forming patterns, but also with a high degree of hardness. The coatings are designed for use as a single-coat application on aluminum, as well as applications for HDG steel, galvalume, and CRS. A primer is recommended in applications over steel.
