The wind monitoring plan mentioned in this article sounds good in theory but in the construction business, time is of the essence. For example, if you are faced with losing a contract or being find thousands of dollars for running over your allotted time for the job because you were waiting for wind change to continue work ,you are losing money. Every professional painter out there has overspray vehicles, its all part of the job. Even with the best wind monitoring systems used, you can still overspray vehicles. I have worked on many claims when the overspray has traveled over 2 miles and covered the vehicles. This can happen when the structure being painted is very tall. When a contractor is faced with either finishing a job on time or wait for the wind to change direction, most finish the job and take their chances and roll the dice. Most of the time a skilled painter with his helper holding a wind board can do the job without creating any overspray damage.
